Jellybooks Cloud Reader: Anonymous Reading Mode

Many thanks for using the Jellybooks Cloud Reader. Our prime objective is to provide you, the reader, with a delightful reading experience.

We also want you to trust us. In the interest of openness and transparency, we wish to notify you that we also collect usage and reading information to help authors and publishers better understand their audience and specifically their readers. We always do so in manner that meets at least the minimum standard set by the respective privacy laws in each country, though we view these laws only as the bare minimum standard. Our policy is to never ask for or collect data that is not useful in helping you, the reader, the author, or the book’s publisher in creating a better experience. The data we collect is always for the purpose of improving the publishing and reading process. This includes reading and usage data to help us understand if content delights or not.

We do not collect any personal information. What we do collect is the following reading and usage information:

Which invitation link you clicked on (the same ebook or ebook sample may be distributed through different links)
What operating system you are using
What browser you use
your approximate location (city or country level information of where you are located)
if you clicked on the link and opened this ebook sample
which chapters you open
which chapters you finished or how much of those chapters you read
when you start and stop reading
your overall reading time
if you click on a link within the cloud reader including whether you click on the buy link

We then use this data, primarily in aggregate form, but sometimes also at the level of the individual reader to build a picture of how interesting or engaging an ebook or ebook sample is and to develop insights for the author or publisher based on this data, and advise what lessons the data can draw from these insights.

We do not collect any data on your age, gender or other personal data, nor when you use the Jellybooks cloud reader in anonymous mode. We do not combine the data we collect with any personal data from other sources. We focus strictly on reading and engagement data.
